Yass

Yass is 59km from Canberra taking Barton Highway to enter Yass Valley. Derived from an aboriginal word “Yahrr” (or “Yharr”), Yass means “running water”, it is a town in the Southern Tablelands of NSW.

Yass is a popular tourist spot for Canberrans and those who are taking a break off Hume Highway. You may think that you have been transported back in time as the place has carefully preserved historic main street and 19th century verandah post pub.

Do catch The Pride of Erin Festival and Yass Show are held in March and the Yass Arts-and-Crafts Festival in November.
