If you happen to pass by Gungahlin lately, you’d notice that there is a new government building beside Coles. It’s called Winyu House and Access Canberra lives there. According to their website, “on 16 December 2014, Chief Minister, Andrew Barr MLA announced the establishment of a new agency, Access Canberra, to bring together ACT Government shopfront services and regulatory arms into a single entity.”
In essence it is a one stop shop for applying, booking, renewing, registering anything and everything about Business, City Services, Community and Family, Education and Learning, Environment and Heritage, Event Planning, Health, Housing, Land Planning and Building, Law and Order, Pets and Wildlife, Sports, Leisure and Parks and last but not the least, Transport, Roads and Traffics (whew! that was a looong list!).
Just recently I was able to use on of their services when I had to transfer houses and change address. Using a notification form, I was able to update and change my address for my driver’s license and rego.
This form generally notifies the government of your change address in relation to:
- Dog registrations
- Driver licences
- Government housing tenancy
- Library cards
- MyWay cards
- Motor vehicle registrations
- Rates, land tax, land rent and deferred duty
- Seniors cards
- CIT enrolment
- Working with vulnerable people registrations
- ACT High Risk Licence
- ACT Agent Licence
- ACT Security Licence
Access Canberra is accessible via public transport or cars with ample parking space and not to mention coffee shops around the area.
