Who Buys Land Rovers and Why They Do It

Depending which city or country you live, Land Rovers can be a common sight out in the streets. But who really buys them and why do they prefer Rovers to other car models?

According to a case study by AdMob, the typical Land Rover owner is “”an active male, high net worth demographic between the ages of 34-54.” The Range Rover, in particular, has an impressive owner demographic: A college graduate, a professional or executive male who earns around $375,000 annually.

In a market segmentation from Claritas PRIZM, they identified “dual-income couples who are highly educated, typically between the ages of 35 and 54” as owners of Ranger Rovers. Dubbed as “Movers & Shakers,” these are wealthy, suburban, middle-age people who order from J.Crew, attend NHL games, and watch Saturday Night Live.

Then there are those customers who really want a superb off-road vehicle and those who want a big car and think that the BMW X5 and Cadillac Escalade are already cliché.

With the upcoming release of the Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover is set to target new customers, those who are “younger, image aware, well-connected, interested in social media, and wanting an emotional connection with vehicles,” according to Design Director Gerry McGovern.
