UK Government Fully Supports Jaguar Land Rover’s Expansion Plans in Coventry

According to Business Secretary Sajid Javid, the government will do whatever it takes to make sure that the company’s Coventry expansion plans will be a success.

In a statement to the Telegraph during his visit to the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) at the University of Warwick, “What we’ve seen from Jaguar Land Rover – in past five years especially – is a tripling of the number of people they employ in the UK, they’re exporting almost 80 per cent of what they produce.”

“It’s a great success story for Britain, I want that to continue and I’m going to make sure the government does everything it can to help that.”

He added that he doesn’t “want any company to be moving business abroad.”

The GBP 500 million expansion plan is part of a longer term vision which could see the company move towards its venture into the electric vehicle market.

Jaguar Land Rover aims to occupy half of the 60-acre site on the opposite side of the A45, next to Coventry Airport. The other 30 acres is designated for top-level JLR suppliers. Previous development plans were rejected because of the land’s protected status.
